Infrastructure at Pangong Tso is extremely basic, owing to its remote location, extreme climate, and sensitive geopolitical status.
* **Electricity:** There is no centralized power grid. The villages and tourist camps rely heavily on solar power panels, mini solar grids, and diesel generators. Electricity is usually only available for a few hours in the evening. * **Water & Sewer:** Water is drawn from glacial melt streams or borewells. Sewage is managed via localized septic tanks and traditional dry composting toilets, though the influx of tourism has raised concerns about wastewater management near the pristine lake. * **Telecommunications:** Until recently, Pangong Tso had no civilian mobile connectivity. In the last few years, state-run BSNL and private provider Reliance Jio have erected mobile towers in Spangmik, providing 4G cellular service, though it remains highly intermittent and weather-dependent. Broadband internet is mostly restricted to military use.
