Reaching and navigating Nubra Valley is an adventure in itself. There are no commercial airports or rail networks in the valley. The nearest major transport hub is the Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh.
The primary access route is by road from Leh, crossing the formidable **Khardung La**, one of the highest motorable passes in the world (approx. 5,359 m / 17,582 ft). Another route connects Nubra to Pangong Tso via the Shyok River road (Agham-Shyok), and a third, lesser-used route goes over the Wari La pass.
Within the valley, transportation is heavily reliant on private taxis, motorcycles (highly popular among tourists), and shared jeeps. The local bus service, operated by the JKSRTC and private unions, is sparse and runs on limited schedules. The road infrastructure is primarily built and maintained by the Border Roads Organization (BRO), a wing of the Indian Army, which works year-round to keep the passes clear of snow and landslides.
