Weather & climate

Mysuru enjoys a tropical savanna climate (Köppen climate classification: Aw), bordering on a hot semi-arid climate. Its elevation ensures that the weather remains relatively moderate and pleasant year-round, distinguishing it from the sweltering coastal plains of South India.

Average temperatures range from 15°C (59°F) during winter nights to 34°C (93°F) during summer days. The city experiences three distinct seasons: a warm summer from March to May, the monsoon season from June to October, and a mild winter from November to February. Average annual rainfall is approximately 800 mm (31 inches), brought primarily by the southwest monsoon. The best time to visit is considered to be between October and February, when the weather is cool and clear.
