Government

Civic administration in Mysuru is managed by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), established in 1862, making it one of the oldest municipalities in the country. The MCC is headed by a Mayor, though executive power largely resides with the municipal commissioner, an appointed IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer.

The city is divided into 65 administrative wards, each represented by an elected corporator. At the district level, the Deputy Commissioner manages revenue, land, and overall district administration. Politically, the city is represented in the state legislative assembly by multiple MLAs (Members of Legislative Assembly) and sends one elected Member of Parliament (MP) to the Lok Sabha (the lower house of India's parliament).
