Ranchi's infrastructure is undergoing continuous modernization under the Smart Cities Mission.
Electricity is primarily managed by the Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL), with supply stability improving significantly over the last decade. The city's municipal water supply relies on reservoirs such as Kanke, Rukka, and Hatia dams, though groundwater extraction remains prevalent in expanding suburbs. Telecommunications infrastructure is robust, with widespread 4G/5G cellular coverage and high-speed broadband and fiber-optic internet available through major national providers. The city is also seeing upgrades in its sewage and drainage systems to manage monsoon runoffs more effectively.
