Jamshedpur experiences a tropical wet and dry climate (Köppen climate classification *Aw*, bordering on *Cw*). The city sees three distinct seasons: summer, monsoon, and winter.
Summers (March to June) are typically hot and dry, with average high temperatures often reaching between 35°C and 40°C (95°F–104°F), and occasionally spiking up to 45°C (113°F) in May. The monsoon season (July to September) brings heavy rainfall—averaging around 1,200 mm annually—which dramatically cools the city and turns the surrounding Dalma Hills lush and green. Winters (November to February) are mild, dry, and highly pleasant, with temperatures comfortably ranging between 10°C and 22°C (50°F–72°F). The best time to visit Jamshedpur is during the winter months, spanning from October to March.
