In stark contrast to the dramatic, high-altitude topography of northern Himachal Pradesh, Una is characterized by low-lying hills and valleys. The city itself sits at a modest elevation of approximately 369 meters (1,210 feet) above sea level.
The terrain is predominantly flat in the main urban areas, making it easier to navigate and develop compared to the steep slopes of upper Himachal. The landscape gently undulates, rising into the Shivalik hills on the district's peripheries. The Swan River valley forms a broad flood plain that serves as the primary agricultural and residential corridor.
