Weather & climate

Palampur experiences a subtropical highland climate (Köppen *Cwa/Cwb*), characterized by mild summers, heavy monsoons, and cool winters.

* **Spring/Summer (March to June):** Temperatures range comfortably between 15°C and 30°C. This is considered the best time to visit, with blooming flora and clear skies. * **Monsoon (July to September):** The town receives abundant rainfall, averaging over 2,000 mm annually. While the rain transforms the valley into a lush paradise, it can occasionally trigger minor landslides in the surrounding hills. * **Winter (December to February):** Winters are cold and crisp, with temperatures ranging from 0°C to 15°C. While Palampur town rarely receives heavy snowfall, the immediately adjacent upper hills and the Dhauladhar range are heavily blanketed in snow.

The high rainfall and mild temperatures are the primary reasons the region is so perfectly suited for tea cultivation.
