McLeod Ganj experiences a subtropical highland climate or a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate (Köppen climate classification Cwa/Cwb). The year is divided into distinct seasons. Summer (March to June) is pleasant and relatively warm, with average temperatures ranging from 22°C to 35°C (71°F to 95°F), making it the most popular time to visit. The monsoon season (July to September) brings torrential, unrelenting rainfall—some of the highest in the state of Himachal Pradesh—which revitalizes the forests but often disrupts travel due to landslides. Autumn (October to November) features clear skies, crisp air, and excellent visibility. Winter (December to February) is cold, with temperatures often dropping near or below freezing at night, and occasional snowfall blanketing the town and surrounding peaks.
