McLeod Ganj's infrastructure is continually stretched by its high volume of visitors. The town is connected to the state electricity grid, which is generally reliable, though weather-related power outages are common during monsoons and winter snows. Water supply is a persistent challenge; the town relies on mountain streams and municipal pipes, but severe shortages often occur during the peak summer tourist season, necessitating water rationing or the use of private water tankers. Waste management and sewage systems are under constant upgrade to cope with the steep terrain and high population density. Telecommunications are excellent, with widespread 4G/5G cellular coverage from major providers (Jio, Airtel, BSNL) and high-speed fiber-optic broadband available in most hotels and cafes.
