Water is a defining feature of Mandi's geography, shaping its culture, religion, and economy.
* **River Beas:** The principal river flowing right through the city, providing scenic backdrops for the ancient stone temples along its banks. * **Suketi Khad:** A significant tributary that merges with the Beas River at Mandi. The confluence (sangam) is considered sacred. * **Pandoh Dam:** An earth and rock-fill dam on the Beas River, just upstream of Mandi, creating a beautiful emerald-green reservoir that diverts water for hydroelectric power. * **Lakes:** Aside from the famous **Prashar Lake** and **Rewalsar Lake**, the region also features **Macchial Lake**, considered sacred to Machendranath.
