Manali experiences a subtropical highland climate that borders on an alpine climate (Köppen: Cfb/Dfb depending on precise altitude). The town enjoys four distinct seasons.
Summers (April to June) are mild, breezy, and pleasant, with average daytime temperatures ranging from 10°C to 25°C (50°F to 77°F). This is the peak tourist season as visitors escape the intense heat of the Indian plains. The monsoon season (July to September) brings heavy rainfall, high humidity, and a significant risk of landslides, temporarily transforming the landscape into a vibrant, lush green.
Winters (November to February) are notoriously cold. Temperatures frequently drop below freezing, hovering between -7°C and 15°C (19°F to 59°F). Snowfall is common and heavily anticipated by winter sports enthusiasts. The best time to visit depends on the traveler's intent: March to June is ideal for pleasant weather and trekking, while December to February is best for experiencing snow.
