Transportation

Kullu is well-connected by road and air, though it completely lacks rail infrastructure due to the mountainous terrain.

* **Air:** The Kullu-Manali Airport is located in Bhuntar, about 10 kilometers south of Kullu town. It offers limited domestic flights (primarily via Alliance Air) connecting to Delhi and Chandigarh, subject to weather conditions. * **Road:** National Highway 3 (NH-3) passes right through the town, connecting it south to Chandigarh/Delhi and north to Manali and Leh. * **Public Transit:** The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) operates an extensive network of buses from the Kullu bus stand (Sarvari), linking the town to remote villages and major Indian cities. * **Local Transport:** Auto-rickshaws, shared maxicabs, and private taxis are the primary modes of point-to-point transit within the town and to nearby attractions. There is no local rail or subway system.
