Religion

Often affectionately referred to as the "Valley of Gods" (*Dev Bhoomi*), Kullu has a deeply mystical religious landscape predominantly rooted in Hinduism. Every village in the valley has its own local deity (*Devta* or *Devi*), who is treated as a living ruler.

* **Hinduism:** The principal deity of the region is Lord Raghunath (Rama). The intricate relationship between the chief deity and the hundreds of local village deities dictates much of the valley's social and religious calendar. * **Other Faiths:** While Hinduism is the dominant religion, Kullu is home to a diverse population, including small communities of Sikhs, Muslims, and Buddhists, with Gurudwaras, mosques, and Tibetan monasteries found in the town and wider district.
