Population

The permanent local population of Kasol is quite small, estimated at roughly 1,000 residents, primarily comprising native Himachali families. However, the effective population swells significantly due to the seasonal influx of tourists, backpackers, and temporary expatriates, particularly from Israel.

The local ethnic composition is primarily Pahari (people of the mountains), speaking Kulluvi and Hindi. Hinduism is the dominant local religion, deeply woven with regional deities and animistic traditions. The seasonal population brings a diverse mix of languages, notably Hebrew and English. Most of the local workforce is engaged in the service and hospitality sectors, catering almost entirely to tourism.
