Kasol's economy is almost entirely dependent on tourism and hospitality. Previously reliant on traditional terrace farming and animal husbandry, the village has pivoted to a service-based economy over the last three decades.
The main drivers of income are guesthouses, homestays, cafes, trekking agencies, and retail shops selling handicrafts and winter wear. The cost of living for locals is moderate, but real estate and rental prices for commercial spaces have surged due to high tourist demand. While the tourism boom has elevated the median income compared to historical agricultural norms, it has also created a heavily seasonal economic cycle.
