Weather & climate

Dharamshala experiences a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate (Köppen *Cwa*), heavily modified by its high altitude.

* **Summer (April to June):** Temperatures are pleasant, ranging from 22°C to 35°C, making it a highly popular escape from the scorching Indian plains. * **Monsoon (July to September):** Dharamshala is one of the wettest places in Himachal Pradesh. Rainfall is extremely heavy, often leading to landslides and road blockages. The lush green surroundings are vibrant, but travel can be difficult. * **Winter (December to February):** Winters are cold and crisp, with temperatures dropping between 0°C and 15°C. Upper reaches like McLeod Ganj and Dharamkot frequently receive snowfall, while Lower Dharamshala primarily receives cold rain.

The best times to visit are generally between mid-February to mid-July, and from September to November, when the weather is clear and temperate.
