Weather & climate

Rajnandgaon experiences a tropical wet and dry climate, classified under the Köppen climate classification as *Aw*. The weather is distinctly divided into three seasons: summer, monsoon, and winter.

Summers (March to mid-June) are notoriously hot and dry, with daytime temperatures frequently soaring between 40°C and 45°C (104°F to 113°F). The arrival of the southwest monsoon in late June brings dramatic relief, delivering the bulk of the city's annual rainfall (averaging around 1,200 mm) through September. High humidity marks the monsoon season. Winters (November to February) are mild, dry, and highly pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 12°C to 25°C (53°F to 77°F). Consequently, the winter months are widely considered the best time to visit the city.
