During the Rabi (winter) season, farmers cultivate pulses (like gram and pigeon pea), oilseeds (like mustard and linseed), and wheat, particularly where irrigation from the Mahanadi River or local canals is available. Forestry also plays a crucial role in the agrarian economy, with local tribal and rural populations actively participating in the gathering and sale of forest produce, which is then traded in city markets.
