Topography

The topography of Korba is a mix of flat river basins and gently undulating terrain, sitting at an average elevation of about 252 meters above sea level. The city itself is largely situated on the plains of the Hasdeo river valley.

As one moves outwards from the city center, particularly to the north and east, the terrain becomes increasingly hilly, blending into the rugged landscapes of the Maikal range and the margins of the Chota Nagpur plateau. A defining topographic feature just outside the city is the Hasdeo Bango Dam, a massive reservoir nestled among hills that provides crucial water resources for the city's power plants and agricultural districts.
