Weather & climate

Jagdalpur experiences a tropical savanna climate (Köppen climate classification *Aw*). The year is divided into three main seasons: summer, monsoon, and winter.

Summers (March to June) are hot, with maximum temperatures often reaching between 38°C and 42°C (100°F to 108°F). The monsoon season (July to October) brings heavy rainfall, largely from the southwest monsoon, averaging around 1,400 to 1,500 mm annually. This rain transforms the surrounding forests into a lush green landscape and swells the rivers and waterfalls to their peak flow. Winters (November to February) are mild and pleasant, with nighttime temperatures occasionally dropping to 10°C to 12°C (50°F to 54°F).

The best time to visit Jagdalpur is from October to March, when the weather is cool and comfortable, and the waterfalls are still robust. The region is largely free from extreme natural disasters, though heavy monsoons can occasionally cause localized flooding along the Indravati River.
