Government

Bilaspur's civic administration is managed by the Bilaspur Municipal Corporation (BMC), which is headed by a Mayor and a Commissioner. The city is divided into several wards, each electing a corporator to the municipal council. The BMC oversees local infrastructure, public health, sanitation, and water supply.

At the district level, the administration is led by the District Collector, an IAS officer who handles revenue, land records, and general law and order in conjunction with the Superintendent of Police.

Crucially, Bilaspur is the judicial heart of Chhattisgarh. The village of Bodri, located on the southern outskirts of the city, hosts the Chhattisgarh High Court. The city is also represented politically by elected members in both the State Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) and the national Parliament (Lok Sabha).
