Weather & climate

Bhilai experiences a tropical wet and dry climate (Köppen climate classification *Aw*). The weather is generally divided into three distinct seasons: a hot summer, a monsoon season, and a mild winter.

Summers (April to June) are typically severe and dry, with daytime temperatures frequently soaring between 40°C and 45°C (104°F to 113°F). The monsoon season (July to September) brings significant relief, delivering the bulk of the city's annual rainfall (averaging about 1,100 to 1,200 mm) through the southwest monsoon. Winters (November to February) are mild, pleasant, and dry, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 25°C (50°F to 77°F). Because of this, the best time to visit Bhilai is between October and March.
