The topography of the Rock Garden is highly manipulated but elegantly integrated into the natural dip of the gorge. It is characterized by terraced courtyards, deep walled pathways, and man-made hills constructed from recycled materials and industrial slag. The elevation changes repeatedly throughout the 40-acre site, creating a labyrinthine feel with narrow valleys that suddenly open into wide, flat amphitheaters and cascading artificial waterfalls.
