Geography

Located in the northernmost part of Chandigarh, adjacent to the famous Sukhna Lake, the Rock Garden sits within a natural forested gorge. The physical geography of the immediate area is characterized by dense subtropical vegetation that was originally preserved as a green buffer zone for the planned city of Chandigarh.

The garden masterfully utilizes the existing geological features of the gorge, incorporating natural stones, boulders, and uneven terrain to create its walls and pathways. It acts as an ecological sanctuary within an urban grid, featuring lush greenery, extensive artificial water features, and shaded canopies that naturally regulate the temperature within its walls.
