### Future Development
Patna is undergoing rapid infrastructural transformation to meet the needs of its growing population.
* **Patna Metro:** A mass rapid transit system is currently under construction. Phase 1 will feature two corridors (East-West and North-South), significantly reducing road congestion. * **Loknayak Ganga Path (Marine Drive):** A highly ambitious riverside expressway built along the Ganges. Partially opened, it has transformed the city's commuting patterns and has become a major recreational hotspot. * **Aviation Expansion:** The existing Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport is undergoing major terminal expansion. Concurrently, a new commercial airport is being developed at the Bihta Air Force Station to handle larger aircraft and increased passenger volume. * **Smart City Mission:** Patna has been selected under the Government of India's Smart Cities Mission, bringing investments in smart traffic management, CCTV surveillance, public Wi-Fi, and beautification of public spaces. * **New Bridges:** Several megaprojects, such as the 6-lane Kachchi Dargah-Bidupur bridge, are being constructed over the Ganges to improve connectivity with North Bihar.
