Agriculture in the periphery of Tezpur is highly productive due to the fertile alluvial soil deposited by the Brahmaputra.
While **Tea** is the dominant cash crop, the region also extensively cultivates **Paddy (rice)**, which is the staple food. Other significant crops include jute, mustard, sugarcane, and a wide variety of seasonal vegetables. Orchards producing litchi, pineapple, and bananas are common, and Tezpur litchis are particularly famous across Assam for their quality.
Livestock rearing, dairy farming, and riverine fisheries also play a crucial role in the local agricultural economy.
