Parks & nature

Nature and wildlife are the very essence of Kaziranga's identity.

* **Kaziranga National Park:** The park boasts the world's largest population of the Great One-Horned Rhinoceros. It is also a recognized Tiger Reserve with a high density of Bengal tigers, and home to large herds of Asian elephants, wild water buffalo, and the vulnerable swamp deer (barasingha). * **Panbari Reserve Forest:** Located near the park, this reserve is one of the few remaining habitats for the rare and endangered Hoolock Gibbon, India's only ape. * **Flora:** The landscape is a vibrant mosaic of tall elephant grass, dense tropical broadleaf forests, and marshland, creating a highly dynamic ecosystem that shifts dramatically with the annual monsoon floods.
