Administratively, the Kaziranga region does not have a single municipal government. Instead, it is governed under the jurisdiction of the Golaghat, Nagaon, and Sonitpur districts of the Government of Assam. Local administration is handled by District Commissioners and rural councils known as Panchayats.
However, because of the overwhelming footprint of the National Park, the Assam Environment and Forest Department wields significant administrative authority in the area. The Park Director and Divisional Forest Officers manage land use, conservation laws, anti-poaching forces, and tourism regulations. Public services for residents, such as healthcare and road maintenance, are provided by state government departments out of nearby towns like Bokakhat.
