Religion

Jorhat is characterized by religious harmony and diversity. The majority of the population practices Hinduism, with a strong presence of the Ekasarana Dharma (Neo-Vaishnavism), visible in the numerous *Namghars* (community prayer halls) across the city, most notably the **Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar**. There are significant Muslim, Christian, Jain, and Sikh communities as well. Prominent religious sites include the **Burhi Gosani Devalaya** (a historic Shakta temple), the **Garh Ali Jama Masjid**, and various historic Baptist and Catholic churches established during the British era.
