Government

Dibrugarh is administered by the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation (DMC). Upgraded recently from a Municipal Board to a Corporation to accommodate its growing urban footprint, the DMC is responsible for civic infrastructure, water supply, sanitation, and urban planning. The city is divided into multiple wards, each electing a councilor.

At the state level, the city forms a constituency in the Assam Legislative Assembly. Nationally, it is the center of the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency, which elects one representative to the Indian Parliament.

The city is also the administrative headquarters of the Dibrugarh District, meaning the offices of the District Commissioner (DC) and the Superintendent of Police (SP) are located here, overseeing general administration and law and order for the wider region.
