The topography of Dhubri is overwhelmingly flat, typical of the Brahmaputra floodplains. The average elevation is merely 34 meters (111 feet) above sea level.
There are no significant hills or mountains within the city limits. The landscape is primarily defined by low-lying plains and wetlands (*beels*). The southern and western boundaries of the city are defined by the riverfront of the Brahmaputra, which experiences significant water level fluctuations between the dry season and the monsoon season. Due to its flat, low-lying nature, the area is historically flood-prone.
