Dhubri is governed by the Dhubri Municipal Board (DMB), which is divided into multiple wards, each represented by an elected Ward Commissioner. The Chairperson of the Board oversees municipal administration, urban development, and local sanitation.
As the district headquarters, the city hosts the office of the District Commissioner (DC), who represents the Government of Assam and oversees district-wide law and order, revenue collection, and developmental projects.
Politically, Dhubri falls under the Dhubri Assembly Constituency (electing an MLA to the Assam State Legislature) and is the center of the Dhubri Lok Sabha Constituency (electing a Member of Parliament to the national government).
