Transportation

Transportation is one of Bongaigaon's greatest strengths. The New Bongaigaon Railway Junction is a pivotal node on the Northeast Frontier Railway zone, offering direct train connectivity to virtually every major city in India, including Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai.

By road, the city is excellently connected. National Highway 27 (part of the East-West Corridor) passes near the city through Chapaguri, providing high-speed, four-lane connectivity to Guwahati (approx. 170 km away) and West Bengal. Within the city, public transit relies heavily on auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws, and local shared taxis. The nearest airport with regular commercial flights is Rupsi Airport (approx. 90 km away), though many residents use the larger Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati.
