Geography

Tezu is located in the easternmost sector of Arunachal Pradesh, nestled in the Himalayan foothills. The town is strategically positioned on the northern banks of the Lohit River, a major and turbulent tributary that eventually flows into the Brahmaputra in neighboring Assam.

The geography is characterized by dense, evergreen, and semi-evergreen forests, fed by a network of mountain streams. The region exhibits incredible biodiversity, housing numerous species of rare flora and fauna, including medicinal plants and orchids endemic to the Eastern Himalayas. To the north and east, the landscape quickly shifts from riverine plains into the steep, densely forested Mishmi Hills.
