Housing

Housing in Pasighat reflects its transition from a traditional tribal settlement to a modern urban center. The housing market features a mix of traditional stilt houses made of bamboo and thatch (known locally as *chang ghars*), primarily in the older or more rural fringes, and modern concrete structures in the city center.

Due to the influx of students attending the city's universities and colleges, as well as government employees, there is a strong demand for rental housing. Independent single-family homes and mid-rise apartment buildings are becoming more common. Under the Smart City initiative, there are ongoing efforts to improve housing standards and urban planning, though rapid urbanization has put pressure on local real estate prices in prime commercial areas.
