Weather & climate

Daporijo experiences a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cwa/Cwb) influenced by its elevation and the surrounding mountains. The weather is generally pleasant throughout the year, though it sees distinct seasonal variations. Summers (April to June) are warm and humid, with average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C. Winters (November to February) are cool and sometimes chilly, with temperatures dropping to between 5°C and 15°C. Snowfall does not typically occur in the town itself, though higher passes in the district may experience snow.

The region receives heavy rainfall during the southwest monsoon season, which lasts from May to September. This intense precipitation feeds the Subansiri River but can also lead to landslides and road blockages, making travel difficult. The best time to visit Daporijo is during the post-monsoon and winter months (October to April), when the skies are clear, the weather is cool, and the landscape is lush and green.
