Snowfall does not typically occur in the town itself, though higher passes in the district may experience snow.
The region receives heavy rainfall during the southwest monsoon season, which lasts from May to September. This intense precipitation feeds the Subansiri River but can also lead to landslides and road blockages, making travel difficult.
