Transportation to and within Aalo is primarily road-based, navigating challenging but scenic mountain terrain. The town is connected by road to Pasighat, Silapathar (in Assam), and the state capital, Itanagar. The ongoing development of the Trans-Arunachal Highway (NH13) aims to significantly improve Aalo's connectivity.
There is no railway station in Aalo; the nearest railhead is in Silapathar, Assam, roughly 140 kilometers away. Air connectivity is limited. The Aalo Advanced Landing Ground (ALG) is maintained by the Indian Air Force and occasionally handles civilian helicopter services operated by Pawan Hans, subject to weather conditions.
Local transportation relies on shared taxis (like Sumos and Boleros) and auto-rickshaws. A notable feature of local infrastructure are the traditional hanging suspension bridges, such as the famous Patum Bridge over the Yomgo River, which remain essential for foot traffic between villages.
