Often referred to colloquially as the "Rice Bowl of the Andamans," Diglipur's fertile plains support the highest agricultural output in the territory. Rice is the staple crop, grown extensively during the monsoon.
Besides rice, Diglipur is famous across the islands for its citrus fruits, particularly the "Diglipur Orange," which thrives in the local soil and climate. Farmers also cultivate coconuts, areca nuts (betel nut), bananas, and a variety of spices and vegetables. Livestock rearing (poultry and cattle) and inland aquaculture supplement the agricultural income for many rural families. Organic farming is increasingly being encouraged by the local administration to preserve the fragile island ecosystem.
