Neighborhoods

As a division, Sylhet's "neighborhoods" are best understood through its four constituent districts, each with its own distinct character:

- **Sylhet District:** The urban, cultural, and spiritual hub, home to the capital city, the international airport, the major universities, and the shrines of Shah Jalal and Shah Paran. - **Moulvibazar District:** Known as the tea capital of Bangladesh; features the tourist hub of Srimangal, the Lawachara National Park, and luxury eco-resorts. - **Sunamganj District:** The heart of the Haor basin. Famous for the Tanguar Haor wetland, cross-border rivers, and the baul (mystic minstrel) culture of Hason Raja and Shah Abdul Karim. - **Habiganj District:** A major industrial and agricultural zone, featuring historical sites, vast tea estates, and several of the country’s most important natural gas fields.
